Key Features

Fully automatic operation
Microprocessor based digital display
High accuracy pressure sensor
Automatic peak value hold
Heavy duty and vibration-free construction
User-friendly control panel

Applications

Paper and Pulp Industry
Corrugated Box and Packaging Industry
Paper Testing Laboratories
Quality Control Departments
Research and Development Laboratories

Working Principle

The test specimen is clamped securely over a rubber diaphragm. Hydraulic pressure is applied automatically and uniformly until the specimen bursts. The maximum pressure at the moment of burst is sensed by a pressure transducer and displayed digitally as the bursting strength.

Advantages

High accuracy and repeatability of results
Fully automatic testing reduces operator effort
Improves efficiency in quality control processes
Reliable performance for laboratory applications
Ensures consistency in testing standards

Purpose

Used to determine the maximum hydrostatic pressure a material can withstand before rupture. It is a digital alternative to the analog Mullen tester, providing precise readings and eliminating human error.

Working Principle

Based on the Mullen Method. A specimen is clamped between plates, and hydraulic pressure expands a rubber diaphragm. A pressure transducer detects the burst point and the system records the peak value.

Main Components

Digital Controller with display, reset, and memory
Clamping Unit (manual or pneumatic)
Elastic Rubber Diaphragm (1–2 mm thickness)
Hydraulic System with motor and glycerin reservoir
Safety Switch to prevent over-stretching

Operating Procedure

1. Power ON and wait 2 minutes
2. Press TARE/ZERO to calibrate
3. Place sample on diaphragm
4. Clamp the sample securely
5. Press START to begin test
6. Machine applies pressure automatically
7. Peak value is displayed after burst
8. Reset machine for next test

Maintenance

Check diaphragm regularly for wear
Perform blank burst test for diaphragm condition
Clean clamping plates after use
Ensure no glycerin leakage
